Camera and steering from your phone in cycling sims
By mattapps · Published 12 October 2026 · Last checked 12 October 2026
GearPad's free Biketerra layout already has look behind (B, held) and camera (C), and its free MyWhoosh layout has wave (2) and UI toggle (U). Steering is not in the free layouts. For MyWhoosh, add buttons on the reported steering keys, the arrows or A and D, in the Pro layout editor, with hold-while-pressed on.
What can you control besides shifting?
Anything the game puts on a keyboard key can be sent from your phone. GearPad acts as a Bluetooth keyboard, so a button on the phone is just a key press on your Mac or Windows PC. The free layouts cover a few of these actions, and Pro lets you add the rest.
Shifting has its own pages, so it is left out here. For the Biketerra side, see how to shift gears in Biketerra without a Zwift Click.
| Action | Game | Key | Free or Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Look behind | Biketerra | B (hold) | Free, built into GearPad's Biketerra layout |
| Camera | Biketerra | C | Free, built into GearPad's Biketerra layout |
| Wave | MyWhoosh | 2 | Free, built into GearPad's MyWhoosh layout |
| UI toggle | MyWhoosh | U | Free, built into GearPad's MyWhoosh layout |
| Steer left and right | MyWhoosh | Arrows or A/D (reported) | Pro: you add the buttons |
| Other emotes | MyWhoosh | 1 to 7 (reported) | Pro: you add the buttons |
The MyWhoosh steering and emote keys come from a third-party fan site, mywhooshinfo.com, dated July 2025. Treat them as reported and confirm them in the game.
How do you look behind and change the camera in Biketerra?
Use the two buttons already in GearPad's Biketerra layout: Look behind on B and Camera on C. Both are free and need no setup beyond pairing the phone.
Look behind is set to hold. The key stays down while your finger stays on the button, so you glance back and release to return. Camera is a normal tap that sends C once.
These are the keys GearPad's preset sends, not a list published by Biketerra, whose official help page was not available to us. Open Biketerra's controls settings and check that B and C do what you expect.
What about the camera in MyWhoosh?
We could not find a documented camera key for MyWhoosh, so GearPad's MyWhoosh layout does not include one, and we will not guess. If you find a key in the game's own settings, you can add it as a button with Pro.
What the free MyWhoosh layout does include is Wave on 2 and UI toggle on U. The wave button sends your emote. The UI toggle is reported to switch to a minimal screen.
The same fan site also lists emotes 1 to 7 and H to hide the controls. Those are reported, not official. To put them on your phone, add them as buttons. The list of MyWhoosh keyboard shortcuts has the full set we know about.
Should a button tap or hold?
Use tap for one-off actions like a wave or a camera change, and hold for anything that should last while your finger is down, such as steering or looking back. A tap sends the key on touch-down. Hold keeps the key pressed until you lift your finger.
Hold-while-pressed is an optional per-button setting in Pro. Biketerra's Look behind button already ships as a hold in the free layout. Making any other button hold, a steer button for example, needs Pro.
| Mode | What the computer sees | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Tap (default) | One key press when you touch the button | Wave, camera, UI toggle, gear changes |
| Hold while pressed | Key stays down until you lift your finger | Steering, look behind |
How do you add a steer button in GearPad?
Open the layout editor with the pencil, tap + on an empty cell, then choose the key and switch on hold-while-pressed. This needs GearPad Pro, a single purchase on Google Play.
- Open the layout you want to change and tap the pencil to start editing.
- Tap + on an empty cell to add a new button.
- Tap the button and pick its key. For MyWhoosh, the reported steering keys are the left and right arrows, or A and D.
- Give it a label such as Left, an icon and a color, so you can find it at a glance.
- Turn on Hold while pressed.
- Repeat for the right side. Long-press a button to move it, and drag a corner to make it bigger.
Make the steer buttons large and keep them apart from the shift buttons, since your eyes will be on the game, not on the phone. To build a whole layout from scratch, our guide to custom keys for any cycling app walks through the editor.
What are the limits?
GearPad only sends key presses, so what happens next depends on the game. If a key does nothing, the game may use a different key, or its window may not be in front.
- The game has to be the active window on the computer for any button to reach it.
- Steering keys for MyWhoosh are reported by a fan site, not documented by MyWhoosh. Check them in the game.
- MyWhoosh camera control is not covered, because we found no documented key.
If a button is silent, check that the status pill in the app shows your computer's name, then click the game window and try again.
Quick answers
Do I need Pro to use look behind in Biketerra?
No. Look behind on B (hold) and camera on C are part of the free Biketerra layout. You only need Pro to change them or to add new buttons.
Should steering buttons send the arrows or A and D?
Either, according to the fan site's report for MyWhoosh. Arrows and letters both arrive correctly on any keyboard layout, so set up one pair, test it on a short ride, and switch if the game does not respond.
Can I steer in Biketerra from the phone?
We have no verified steering key for Biketerra, so GearPad's Biketerra layout does not include one. If Biketerra's controls settings list a key, you can add it as a button with Pro.
Can a hold button get stuck down?
It keeps its key down only while your finger is on it. Lift your finger and the key is released.
